After severe weather battered the southern Plains on Wednesday another round of storms are expected to hit region this weekend.
Good Morning America reported that parts of Oklahoma and Texas face a moderate risk of getting more severe weather Friday and Saturday.
KGOU noted that National Weather Service meteorologist Rick Smith said Friday could bring large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes in southwestern Oklahoma and North Texas. The severe weather is expected to continue Saturday with the threat of more twisters.
“Nothing is set in stone, not a guarantee it’s even going to happen, but Saturday is a day I’m concerned about,” Smith said. “If you’ve got travel plans, if you’ve got outdoor activities, graduation ceremonies, Mother’s Day travel, whatever’s going on Saturday, this is one of those days you need to be paying extra attention.”
As previously reported, the many tornadoes that touched down in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and parts of Texas Wednesday left 12 people injured, two of them critical. In addition to the injuries, a woman in Oklahoma named Skylyna Stewart, 43, was killed when she became trapped in her storm cellar and drowned.
