Paranormal Activity has been one of the most popular horror franchises of the decade, but it will all come to an end with the upcoming movie, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension.

Producer Jason Blum announced to The USA Today that The Ghost Dimension, which hits theaters this October, will end the series for good.

"We're not going to grind this horror franchise into the ground," Blum said. "This will keep Paranormal Activity as part of this culture and this particular time in a really fantastic way."

The Ghost Dimension will follow a new family, the Fleeges, who move into a new house only to find a box of mysterious tapes. A brief teaser trailer shows a little girl chanting Bloody Mary backwards into the mirror, a pretty terrifying image. The trailer also claims that "every secret will be revealed" in this new movie.

Blum doubled down on that statement to The USA Today, saying that the new movie will answer all questions viewers have been asking including what does Toby look like and what's the backstory to the families.

The last two Paranormal Activity films didn't do quite as well as the first three, with the most recent one only hitting $90 million. But considering the budget for that film was only $5 million, it was still massively profitable, so it's kind of surprising the studio would be willing to end the franchise so soon.

But will it really be the end? That seems unlikely, as nearly every popular horror franchise is rebooted at some point. Saw: The Final Chapter in 2010 claimed to be the last Saw movie, but the producers are already discussing a return. So while Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension may be the end for now, it's doubtful that there will never be another movie in the series.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension hits theaters on October 23, 2015.
