The name Adley Stump may sound familiar when it comes to country music.
Stump was featured on The Voice in season two and was a member of Team Blake. She impressed the judges with her blind audition of Carrie Underwood's "Last Night," but lost to Voice favorite RaeLynn during the battle rounds.
Now, Stump is back with a brand new EP and proving that, even though she didn't win The Voice, she's still a major contender in country music.
Stump has been busy following her time on The Voice. Like This is her debut EP and sets the tone for her career going forward. Like This combines a few different musical tones that can be felt on the radio right now. At times this EP feels inspired by Miranda Lambert but can quickly turn into more of an early Martina McBride vibe.
Like This opens with "Fall" which is a strong opening single.
It shows off Stump's vocal range and how she isn't shying away from her signature country style. It is clear that she has developed as a musician since spending time on Team Blake on The Voice. Her country sound feels like what is currently playing on the radio. It has hints of pop influences but still keeps the country twang that fans have come to identify with.
The highlight of Like This is that it captures Stump's personality through her performance. She is confident fun and still not afraid to keep learning and developing her own voice and style. This EP shows her natural talent and strengths as a musician. She is able to tell a story through her lyrics and brings out the emotion in the words.
Additional stand out tracks include; "Walking Away," "Little Black Dress" and "Hallelujah."
Aside from her growing music career, Stump is moving forward with her television career including working on a reality show that will be coming out sometime this year.
