The Marvel Cinematic Universe recently acquired the rights to Spider-Man, and we'll be seeing the character's debut in Captain America: Civil War. But a new rumor suggests we might be hearing about the character far sooner than that.

According to Latino Review, Ant-Man will be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to reference Spider-Man, laying the groundwork for the character's introduction.

We still won't be seeing the character on screen until Civil War but according to this rumor, Ant-Man has a lot of references to Spider-Man and particularly to OsCorp, the organization founded by Norman Osborn. According to the Ant-Man trailers, the villain of the movie is trying to sell Hank Pym's technology, and so many are speculating that he'll turn to OsCorp for that.

According to Screen Crush, Kevin Feige said the new Spider-Man has been active in the MCU for a bit now, quietly fighting street crime while the Avengers deal with the big stuff. So within the new universe, Spider-Man has been around for a bit, and he won't just be becoming Spider-Man when we meet him.

As we previously reported, Marvel is very close to making an announcement about the casting of Spider-Man, recently holding screen tests for six actors including Asa Butterfield and Tom Holland. There's still about a month and a half to go until Ant-Man, so is it possible that there could be a Spider-Man appearance in the post credits scene for that movie?

Ant-Man hits theater on July 17.
