Marvel and James Gunn are hard at work on the sequel to one of their best films, and Chris Pratt recently opened up about how emotional he got finding out where the story was headed.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Chris Pratt said just hearing director James Gunn's story pitch for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 actually made him cry.

"His pitch and his idea legitimately put tears in my eyes," he said. "It's so good."

Apparently the studio agreed, as Pratt also said that when Marvel heard the idea, they thought it was perfect, and there was practically no interference from them at all. "They loved it so much that they didn't even have a note for it," he said.

Other than that, Pratt didn't want to give away any details about the film, comparing telling us any more to telling a kid what's under the tree before Christmas morning.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hits theaters in May 2017 as part of Marvel's Phase 3. We don't know a whole lot about the plot yet, but the film will apparently reveal the identity of Star Lord's father, left a mystery in the first film.

As we previously reported, James Gunn recently finished the screenplay for the highly anticipated sequel, teasing the title page on his Twitter.

Along with Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel will all be returning.
