Courtney Love, the widow of the late Kurt Cobain, has sent out a cease and desist letter against theaters showing the conspiracy theory film about Cobain called Soaked in Bleach.

The film, directed by Benjamin Statler, accuses Love of being responsible for the Nirvana frontman’s death in 1994.

The cease and desist reads Soaked in Bleach “falsely presents a widely and repeatedly debunked conspiracy theory that accuses Ms. Cobain of orchestrating the death of her husband.”

“A false accusation of criminal behavior is defamatory,” the letter goes on.

The film follows private investigator Tom Grant, who Love hired the same year Cobain died. It features phone conversations between Love and Cobain as well as interviews from people reportedly close to the situation.

Though Love relinquished control over Montage of Heck, the HBO documentary about Cobain that actually was authorized, their daughter Frances Bean served as executive producer. Its director, Brett Morgen, thought it was in everyone’s best interest if she didn’t have editorial control because she’s a subject of the film.
