Buzzfeed recently published an interesting article asking TV writers about their favorite thing they've written, and Lost writer Damon Lindelof provided some pretty fascinating insight into the show's most iconic moment.
In the Buzzfeed article, Lost creator Damon Lindelof named the "We have to go back!" scene from the end of Season 3 as his favorite thing he's written, but he surprised fans by saying that the moment was actually inspired by Saw 2.
At the end of Saw 2, there's a twist that reveals that something which was supposed to be taking place in the present time is actually taking place in the past, and that what was apparently a live video feed is actually just a recording from earlier in the day.
Lindelof said he saw this movie around the same time he was writing the end of Season 3, and the inspiration of Saw 2 led him to realize they should trick viewers into thinking the last episode was taking place in the past in a flashback, only to shock them that it was actually a flashforward.
This is another fascinating piece of information to come out about the show's creation recently, with a Season 1 writer also releasing a blog post a few months ago detailing what the writers had planned from the beginning, as we previously reported.
