It turns out that rock stars are not invincible. The Foo Fighters have been forced to cancel the rest of their European tour thanks to frontman Dave Grohl’s already legendary broken leg.
Back on Friday, Grohl broke his leg during a show in Gothenburg, Sweden. Since it was early in the show, Grohl - the rock star that he is - refused to cancel the rest of the show. Instead, he played guitar and sang while sitting down as an EMT put a cast on.
The Foo Fighters at first only cancelled two shows, but in a long letter to fans, Grohl said that he was told he has to stay in the hospital and has six metal screws in his leg.
“Which means, and it kills me to say it…..the doctors have told us to cancel shows. I’m really so sorry, guys. You know I hate to do it, but I’m afraid it’s just not physically possible for me at the moment. We’re doing our best right now to work out a plan, so bear with us,” Grohl wrote. “You know we’re good for our word. But for now, I need to make sure we have YEARS of gigs ahead of us….”
One of the bigger gigs they had on the schedule was the Glastonbury festival in the U.K. as one of the headlining acts. Organizers were quickly able to book Florence The Machine as a replacement. The festival runs from June 24-28.
