Another John Carpenter movie is about to get remade. This time, it’s his classic 1986 action film Big Trouble In Little China and the star of the new version could be Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

News of the project was first reported by TheWrap. 20th Century Fox, which released the original film, is apparently optimistic about a new script by X-Men: First Class team Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.

Johnson is also a fan of the original film, so it looks like he’s trying to fulfill a childhood dream of playing Jack Burton, the trucker first played by Kurt Russell. In Carpenter’s original, Jack gets stuck in some weird black magic stuff in San Francisco's Chinatown. Kim Cattrall also starred in the film.

Johnson will produce with his Seven Bucks Productions partners.

The wrestler-turned-movie star can currently be seen in San Andreas, which took over the box office this weekend with $53.2 million. He also just starred in Furious 7, which hit $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office. He will also be seen on HBO this summer in Ballers.

While a remake of Big Trouble certainly won’t kill the originality of Carpenter’s film, it still feels incredibly pointless. If The Rock likes the movie so much, why doesn’t he just watch it again?
