The Harry Potter prequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has officially added Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne to the cast.

Redmayne will be playing the role of Newt Scamander. Scamander is a magizoologist in the Wizarding world. This character was introduced by J.K. Rowling in her best selling Potter novels and feature films. Scamander will be the main focus of Beasts, The Hollywood Reporter added.

If Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sounds familiar to Potter fans, it is one of the textbooks that are used in Hogwarts and has to be read by Harry and his friends.

Warner Bros. president of creative development Greg Silverman explained why the studio felt that Redmayne was the perfect fit for this role, saying that Redmayne has "emerged as one of today’s most extraordinarily talented and acclaimed actors," and that the studio is "thrilled to welcome him into J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World, where we know he will deliver a remarkable performance."

Deadline reported that David Yates, who worked on previous Potter films will be directing Beasts. The movie is set for a worldwide release on November 18, 2016 and will be seen in 3D and in the IMAX format.
