If you weren't sure about the new crossguard lightsaber in the trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, you're not alone. One of the franchise's biggest stars didn't like it either.

According to IndieWire, in a discussion about his new film Last Days in the Desert, Ewan McGregor said that he's excited for The Force Awakens but he's unsure about the new lightsaber.

"I saw the trailer and it looks like he absolutely nailed it and it feels right," he said. "But I’m not sure about the [crossguard] lightsaber. If you fight with a lightsaber properly you don’t need one.”

This isn't the first time McGregor has made similar comments, calling the lightsaber silly back in January according to Slashfilm.

A lot of fans debated the functionality of the new lightsaber when the first trailer premiered last December, but without seeing it in action in the film, it's hard to really make a decision on it quite yet.

When asked if he'd be interested in returning to the Star Wars universe, McGregor said he'd love to star in a movie set between Episode 3 and 4, bridging the gap between his character and the older version played by Alex Guinness in A New Hope.
