Dave Grohl might be able to finish a show with a broken leg, but he can’t start one. The Foo Fighters have been forced to cancel two shows in Europe after he suffered the injury during a show in Sweden.

While performing in Gothenburg, Sweden, Grohl broke his leg during the show. Drummer Taylor Hawkins took the mic while he was gone, but Grohl quickly returned, playing guitar and singing while sitting and having a first-aid responder put a cast on his leg. Videos of the incident went viral, showing Grohl adding yet one more rock star moment to his resume.

After the show, the band posted the X-Ray of Grohl’s injury. It turns out that he did sustain at least one fracture, according to a statement posted Saturday. As a result, the group had to pull out of today’s Pinkpop Festival in The Netherlands. They also had to cancel Tuesday’s show at the AFG Arena in St. Gallen, Switzerland.

“While the full extent of Dave’s injuries are still being determined, it was confirmed at a post-show hospital visit that he sustained at least one fracture,” the group said.

Last year, the group released Sonic Highways, an album of eight songs recorded in eight different iconic studios around the country. Grohl directed a documentary mini-series about making the album for HBO.
