The final installment in the Paranormal Activity franchise is hitting theaters this October, and we now have our first official trailer of the upcoming film.

The trailer was revealed on the official Paranormal Activity YouTube account.

The trailer reveals quite a bit about the plot of the film, which will revolve around a family who discovers tapes of young Katie and Kristi from Paranormal Activity 3. But they're somehow able to interact with the girls through the tapes, and they soon discover a camera that allows them to see into the "ghost dimension."

This will also be the first Paranormal Activity to be released in 3D, and you can sort of tell that from the trailer, which looks way more fantastical and special effects driven than any of the previous installments.

As we previously reported, producer Jason Blum says they wanted to end the franchise before it got stale, and that they'll be treating this as the final installment. He was open to the possibility of there being some sort of a reboot someday, though.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension hits theaters on October 23.
