Fans wondering how original director James Cameron feels about the upcoming Terminator reboot now officially have their answer.

In a new video, original Terminator director James Cameron described his experience watching Genisys after having no involvement with the creation of the film.

He gives the movie his endorsement, saying that “If you like the Terminator films, you’re going to like this movie.” Cameron discusses the idea that the new Terminator starts off in pretty familiar territory, paying tribute to the older films, but then takes a turn and becomes something entirely different.

He says that with Genisys, the franchise has been reinvigorated and that this is a renaissance. And it's not as if Cameron was automatically going to be positive on the sequel, because he also gets in a bit of a dis on Terminator 3 and Terminator: Salvation, saying that he considers this to be the third film following his two movies.

The video also goes into detail about the role of John Connor and the Terminator in the film, with Cameron saying the film's all about the twists, although with all the trailers that have been released, it appears the main twist has already been given away.

Termiantor Genisys will star Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney and Arnold Schwarzenegger. It hits theaters on July 1.
