John Green's first cinematic adaptation, The Fault in Our Stars, did gangbusters at the box office, and there's a good chance the next one, July 24's Paper Towns, should do just more-than-fine too when it comes out next month. So Hollywood's plans to have their third adaptation, Looking For Alaska, up-and-ready to go soon shouldn't be a surprise, and indeed the wheels are fully turning. They've found a new director for the movie in Rebecca Thomas.

Thomas' attachment was confirmed by Green himself. In a tweet, he told his followers and fans the movie "is really happening" and also called Thomas' "brilliant." Thomas takes over the duties from Sarah Polley (Away From Her), who was attached to write/direct the film exactly one year ago. There was no official announcement of her absence, and therefore no explanation as to why, or when, she left.

This marks the filmmaker's second film behind-the-camera, proceeding her 2013 writing/directing debut, Electrick Children. She works with producer Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen under a screenplay from Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber (500 Days of Summer). This marks the third time both producers and both writers work with Green material, as they previously produced and wrote The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns together, respectively. They've been signed on since February. Returning also for a third time to produce and distribute is Fox 2000.

Looking For Alaska, Green's debut novel, centers on Miles, a teenager who goes to boarding school for his junior year. It's here where he begins the enigmatic fellow student Alaska, whom he quickly grows a crush on. It won the author the Michael L. Printz Award in 2006.

In addition to these movies, there's apparently another Green film adaptation, of sorts, in the works. Let It Snow, a collection of short stories written by Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle, is slated for release on Dec. 9, 2016. It comes from a script by Kay Cannon (both Pitch Perfect movies), and weaves together all three romances taking place on one Christmas Eve, TheWrap reported earlier this week.
