Universal said Monday that Jurassic World has officially hit $1 billion at the international box office in record time. Furious 7, which was also released by the studio, had the previous record.
World reached $1 billion after just 13 days in international release, the studio said. The film took full advantage of a nearly global release on June 12, coming out in China, Russia, western Europe and Mexico on the same weekend it hit theaters in North America.
In North America alone, the film has already hit $402.8 million after just 10 days of release. That’s also a speed record. On Saturday, it hit $500 million at the foreign box office after 11 days, also a record.
Furious 7 was released by Universal in April and took 17 days to hit $1 billion worldwide.

World also set the record for the biggest domestic opening weekend with $209 million. During its second weekend, the film made $106.6 million, the second-best second weekend in film history.
Phew, that’s a lot of records.
World is the first entry in the Jurassic Park series since 2001’s Jurassic Park III. It was directed by Colin Trevorrow and stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
