In 1993, Jurassic Park earned the biggest weekend debut in Hollywood history, grossing $50 million right out of the box. Twenty-two years later, the franchise has reclaimed that title, with Jurassic World making more than four times that amount.

Initial estimates Sunday put World’s debut at $204.5 million, which was a hair under The Avengers’ $207.4 million start in May 2012. However, Deadline reports that Universal’s final number puts World’s opening at $209 million, passing Avengers.

Even before the final North America numbers came in, the movie already broke the single-weekend global record, earning $511.8 million worldwide. It’s the first film to make over half a billion dollars in a single weekend, but it did have the advantage of opening in huge markets on the same weekend. The film opened in China, Russia, Mexico and most of Western Europe, all during the same weekend.

Between World and Furious 7, Universal hit several milestones on its own. As TheWrap points out, the studio reached $2 billion internationally for the year last week, the fastest in Hollywood history. It also beat Paramount’s 2008 record for quickest to $1 billion domestically and Fox’s 2010 mark for hitting $3 billion worldwide.

World was the first Jurassic Park movie in 14 years and directed by Colin Trevorrow. The movie stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
