It was rumored Katy Perry wrote a song in retaliation to Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” but it’s now revealed the rumored song isn’t registered to her.
As we previously reported, the song she is rumored to be writing is called “1984,” a dig at Swift’s 1989.
Her rep at Universal told Billboard, "Katy Perry’s managers at Direct Management Group confirm that this story is completely false. Katy Perry was not involved in writing, singing, recording or registering this song."
One of the rumored co-writers of the song, Patrick Collier, also posted a now-deleted Instagram post about the rumor and wrote “News to me.”
The feud between Perry and Swift started when Swift told Rolling Stone of Perry, “She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour,” adding, “She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me."
Perry hasn’t commented, only saying “If somebody is trying to defame my character, you're going to hear about it.”
