Country superstar Keith Urban is being sued by Peter Beckett, the guitarist for '70s band Player. Beckett claims that Urban stole the band's name for a guitar lesson kit which is being sold online and through a variety of shopping outlets.

Page Six first reported the news saying that the suit was filed in Los Angeles, in the US District court. The item in question is Urban's Deluxe PLAYER Guitar Package which features 50 different pieces, including DVD's, to help everyone at home master the guitar. The kit runs for $399.

Urban has been selling the kit on the Home Shopping Network and online since February. The kit claims that the consumer will be able to play 30 songs in 30 days, with instruction from Urban himself.

Beckett is reportedly extremely upset over the use of PLAYER in the title. Patch.com obtained details of the lawsuit. "Defendants’ use of the trade name and trademark Player ... are likely to deceive and will continue to deceive the consuming public," the suit explained. It also claims that Urban had knowledge that he was using the name without permission.
