Rather than finish up their series of remastered reissues of their albums over a long period of time, Led Zeppelin announced on Tuesday that they will release their last three albums all at once. That means it will be a really expensive July for fans.
The wave of releases includes Presence (1976) and In Through The Out Door (1979), as well as the compilation of previously unreleased material called Coda (1982).
Presence is probably one of the group’s least appreciated albums, but it does include the epics “Nobody’s Fault But Mine” and “Achilles Last Stand.” The album was recorded in a single, 18-day period in Munich. The second disc of bonus material only includes five tracks, but you’ll get to hear the unreleased songs “Two Ones Are Won” and “10 Ribs & all/Carrot Pod Pod (Pod).”
The group’s last album before drummer John Bonham’s death, In Through The Out Door, earned a mixed reception when it was released. However, it does contain the hits “All My Love” and “Fool In The Rain.” The bonus disc includes early versions of “All My Love,” “Carouselambra” and “I’m Gonna Crawl.”
Coda was released in 1982 and originally featured just eight tracks that had not been released yet. The new version will act as sort of an “Extended” Coda, with 15 extra tracks spread over two bonus discs. These extra tracks include versions of “Friends” and “Four Sticks” that were recorded with the Bombay Orchestra in India. “Hey, Hey, What Can I Do,” the B-Side to “Immigrant Song” that was left off the Led Zeppelin III re-release, will be included here.
Like the past remastered sets, these will be released on vinyl and in super deluxe sets that come with hardcover coffee table books. All three will be available on July 31, so save up now. While you wait, check out our Top 10 Led Zeppelin songs.
