It took him over six years to accomplish it and 800 hours, but it looks like it was time well spent. That’s how long it took a Norwegian man to crochet a blanket that replicates a Super Mario Bros. 3 map. He earns and an extra mushroom for that.
Redditor Alex Kingshill posted a gallery of pictures of the blanket over the weekend and it quickly went viral. One image shows his friend, Kjetil Nordin sitting with his glorious creation.
“The hardest thing has been to accept that it took such a long time,” Nordin told NRK, reports IGN. “I've spent 800 hours crocheting and many hours researching and searching for the correct yarn.”
Indeed, he once picked the wrong color arn for the water, so he had to re-do it. That whole process took him another week.
Nordin hasn’t picked his next project, but hopefully he will recreate the Legend of Zelda maps... if he has the time.
“I spent such a long time thinking before I chose this project, so I can't rush it. I'll have a break, and think for a while,” he said.
