Marvel is very close to announcing who will be the new Spider-Man, and we now know the names of six actors they had screen-test this past weekend.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel held screen-testing all day this past Saturday in Atlanta, and six young actors tried out for the part.
Those six actors are Asa Butterfield, Tom Holland, Judah Lewis, Matthew Lintz, Charlie Plummer, and Charlie Rowe.
Asa Butterfield's presence on the list is no surprise. The Ender's Game actor has been considered to be the frontrunner for the role for weeks now. Tom Holland's name has also be thrown around before. Holland is known for movies such as The Impossible.
But the remaining four are relatively new to the running. Judah Lewis is a pretty new young actor, appearing in an episode of CSI: Cyber and who we'll see in the upcoming movies Demolition and the Point Break remake. Matthew Lintz has had minor roles in movies like Piranha 3D and shows like Revolution, and he'll be appearing in the Adam Sandler movie Pixels. Charlie Plummer has appeared on Boardwalk Empire, and Charlie Rowe is known for Red Band Society.
So although for a while now, it seemed like Asa Butterfield had basically landed the part, it seems the role of Spider-Man is still somewhat up in the air. Captain America: Civil War is currently filming, though, and since the character will make his debut in that movie, Marvel will need to announce their casting decision pretty soon.
