Spider-Man will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War, but he'll be getting a solo film after that as well. We're now finding out a bit more about what his movie will be like.

According to an interview with Marvel president Kevin Feige on Birth Death Movies, the Spider-Man solo movie will be a high school film in the vein of John Hughes.

“It’s the soap opera in high school, and those supporting characters, that are interesting,” Feige said. “Just as we hadn’t seen a heist movie in a long time, or a shrinking movie in a long time, we haven’t seen a John Hughes movie in a long time."

Classic John Hughes films include The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Sixteen Candles, so it should be really interesting to see a major superhero blockbuster with that kind of tone.

This also makes sense considering how young Marvel went with their Spider-Man casting. As we previously reported, the studio has cast 19-year-old Tom Holland in the role. For comparison, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were both in their late 20s when they played the character.

Marvel's new Spider-Man film will be a part of their Phase 3 and will hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
