For years, Comic-Con has been the big place for movie studios to premiere trailers and announcements about upcoming films, but now three huge studios will be completely absent from the convention this year.

According to Variety, Marvel, Sony and Paramount are all skipping Comic-Con 2015.

Why? Well, it sounds like it's a combination of cutting costs and also studios not really having much to promote. Last year, Marvel unveiled its massive Phase 3 lineup at its own special event rather than Comic-Con, and the studio is expected to have a presence at the D23 Expo in August.

In terms of Sony and Paramount, Variety's sources say the studios just didn't have much to show off this year. So don't expect to see anything from Goosebumps, Spectre, Uncharted, Ghostbusters, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, Zoolander 2, or Star Trek 3 this year.

However, fans can expect a whole lot of Star Wars at the event, and it's seeming like that will absolutely dominate Comic-Con, as we previously reported. Good luck to any other studio who wants to compete with that.
