Since Ridley Scott’s new film The Martian hits theaters later this year, now is the perfect time to start promoting the project. Producer Simon Kinberg started things off by sharing a poster of the cast and then the film got a unique teaser.
Kinberg’s tweet featured a map of the journey to Mars, along with the characters each member of the stellar cast play. Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Kristen Wiig are members of the NASA team back home. Sebastian Stan, Kate Mara and Jessica Chastain are part of the team on the Ares ship heading to Mars.
Matt Damon plays astronaut Mark Watney, who somehow gets left behind on Mars by himself. Somehow, NASA has to get him back to earth.
The three-minute teaser below shows Mark taking us on a tour through the Ares ship. It feels a bit like the viral marketing used to promote Prometheus and we can only hope that The Martian turns out better than that film.
The Martian hits theaters on Nov. 25 and was written by Drew Goddard. It is based on Andy Weir’s book.
