Residents of New England can soon get something a bit different from McDonald’s. The fast food chain is bringing back Lobster Rolls for the first time in a decade.
The “McLobster,” as it was first called when McDonald’s tried to launch the item and failed in the early 1990s, will only be sold at locations in New England. According to FoxCT, McDonald’s said that it will be made with 100 percent real North Atlantic lobster, with mayonnaise and lettuce on a home-style toasted roll. Amazingly, it will have just 290 calories, which is much less than a Big Mac’s 563-calorie count.
They will cost $7.99 for the roll itself and $10.99 for the meal, with fries and a drink.
“The return of the Lobster Roll is exciting because we have requests for it every summer,” spokesperson Nicole Garvey told the New York Daily News. "It's a delicious sandwich and we are thrilled to offer this regional favorite at a great value."
McDonald’s hasn’t offered lobster rolls in New England since 2005, but it is actually very popular in Canada.
McDonald’s has been throwing ideas around to see what could possibly bring back customers. They’ve revived the Hamburglar and are apparently trying out a clothing line. Maybe they should try out the Deep Fried Big Mac next.
