If you take a picture of someone you don’t know, the best move is to post it on Facebook and hope it goes viral. That’s what an amateur Canadian photographer did to find out who the married couple was in a beautiful photo he took in London.
On May 31, Saber Miresmailli posted a gorgeous photo of a couple kissing in front of the Tower Bridge while he was in a moving car in London on May 16. Miresmalli wrote on Facebook that he would love to give the picture to the couple as a gift, but he had no idea who they were. So, he took to Facebook for help.
The story quickly went viral, with over 279,000 shares of the picture. It shows the man and wife kissing, with the woman wearing her wedding dress. Miresmailli was interviewed by both the Canadian and U.K. press.
A woman told the U.K. Express that she knows who the couple is - Laura and James. They were on their honeymoon in Bali when they heard about the photo going viral.
“Laura and James have absolutely no idea how famous they are back here because they're currently on honeymoon in Bali. I couldn't believe it when I saw the picture,” the woman told the Express.
According to ITV, a man on Twitter also identified them as Laura and James, noting that Laura is his cousin.
Misremailli wrote another Facebook post after the news broke, apologizing to the couple if they earned attention they didn’t want. “If my action made you uncomfortable, I do apologize! I have no motive for doing this beyond giving this picture to the couple,” he wrote.
This is just the latest case of social media being used to identify someone in a picture. Last month, a Boston Marathon runner who kissed a spectator found out who her mystery man was... with a letter from his wife.
