There has been a possible sighting in Philadelphia of the two convicted killers who escaped from a New York prison in a way similar to that portrayed in the film Shawshank Redemption.

WPVI noted that police are investigating a tip from a local cab driver in Philadelphia who believes he may have picked up the fugitives on Thursday. The driver said he drove two men fitting the description of David Sweat, 34, and Richard Matt, 48, to a busy train station.

The driver then took another fare to the Philadelphia International Airport and after that notified the authorities about his previous passengers.

Investigators are now questioning that cab driver and combing through surveillance tape from 30th Street Station to see if they spot the men matching the escapees’ description.

As previously reported, the men escaped the Clinton Correctional Facility in the town of Dannemora last weekend. Prison guards noticed the men were gone after they found makeshift dummies in their beds. Officials said they gained access to power tools, which they used to cut through steel, before crawling through a tunnel, cutting through more pipes and finally coming up through a manhole.

Law enforcement in New York focused their search on neighboring Vermont Wednesday evening.

There is a $100,000 being reward offered for information leading to the apprehension of Sweat and Matt.
