The suspect in the case of a University of Virginia student, who went missing last year and was found dead, is now on trial for the vicious alleged attack on another woman a decade ago.
The Associated Press reported that the trial for James Matthew, 33, began Monday with jury selection in Fairfax, Virginia.
In this trial, Matthew is charged with abduction, sexual assault and attempted murder of a woman back in 2005. His alleged victim boarded a flight in India and has returned to the U.S. to testify against him.
As previously noted, Matthew is also the sole suspect in the disappearance and slaying of UVA student Hannah Graham. The 18-year-old left an off campus party by herself in September and later texted her friends that she was lost. No one heard from the teen after that and her remains were discovered in October.
Matthew was arrested and charged with abduction with intent to defile, he has also been forensically linked to the case of murdered Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington in 2010.
The suspect has plead not guilty in the 2005 case.
