A new trailer for The Walk, Robert Zemeckis’ new movie starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, was released this week. The 3D epic was picked to open the 2015 New York Film Festival on Thursday.

Gordon-Levitt stars in the film as French high wire artist Philippe Petit. In 1974, he traveled to New York to walk along a wire between the Twin Towers, even though it was illegal. So, he and a team had to plan a heist to get him to the top and to shoot the wire across the towers.

The trailer does give away some of the 3D tricks, but it does give you an idea for how Zemeckis plans to use the technology. After all, if Ang Lee and Martin Scorsese could use it to their benefit in a live action film, an Oscar winner like Zemeckis should be able to figure it out.

Speaking of Lee, like his Life of Pi in 2012, The Walk will open the New York Film Festival on Sept. 25. The film, which is being released by Sony in IMAX 3D, will hit theaters nationwide on Oct. 2.
