Severe weather hit northern Colorado Thursday night and brought flooding, hail and spawned tornadoes that damaged several homes.
The Associated Press noted that Lori Hodges, director of the Larimer County Office of Emergency Management, said that at least three homes in the area were destroyed. Crews had yet to survey the damage of another 25 houses in the same county.
“The rain is so heavy in that area with hail that they are not able to get more damage assessments,” Hodges said. She added that there were no immediate injuries reported.
A man in Fort Collins, however, told the Daily Camera that his niece did suffer an injury. He said she impaled her leg on a fence as she was running from a tornado and needed stitches.
Twisters were also reported to have touched down in Boulder County not far from Lyons and near Simla in Elbert County, where more homes were destroyed or sustained damage.
The Red Cross is assisting those who have been misplaced.
