Wes Anderson’s movies are noticeably without actors of color, although that did change with Toni Rivoli's performance in The Grand Budapest Hotel. Still, Whoopi Goldberg is nervous that the acclaimed director might never cast her, so she submitted her resume.
The best person to give your resume to when you want to be in an Anderson movie is Jason Schwartzman, who has appeared in almost every Anderson film, from Rushmore to Grand Budapest. Since he was on The View Friday to promote The Overnight, Goldberg had her resume prepared for him.
“I want to do this right because I love all the Wes Anderson movies that you starred—like, almost all of them, from Grand Budapest Hotel and Rushmore and all of those,” Goldberg said, notes E! News. “So, I noticed there's not a lot of folks of color and I thought I would like to give you my résumé to give to Wes Anderson just to let him know I'm available. As you see, I've interned on The Late Show.”
Schwartzman was a bit surprised, but promised that he’d give it to Anderson right away. His Overnight co-star Adam Scott was also stunned to see that Goldberg actually typed out a full resume.
“Can't you just hold up your Oscar and get anything you want?” Scott asked Goldberg.
“I wish that were the case, baby,” Goldberg replied.
Goldberg is a member of the EGOT club, a membership status that should help her get into anything she wants. And if Anderson can figure out a way to get Bruce Willis into his movies, he should be able to figure out how to write a character for Goldberg.
