Paramount decided to add Daddy’s Home to the list of movies that will not be able to top Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Christmas Day. The comedy re-teams The Other Guys stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.
The project was first reported on in November and has Farrell playing a radio executive who just got married and hopes to be a true father to her children. However, the children’s real father (Wahlberg) gets in the way.
Horrible Bosses 2 director Sean Anders helmed the film. The script was written by Brian Burns.
As Variety notes, it is now one of five movies that will open on Christmas Day, just a week after The Force Awakens opens on Dec. 18. The other films are Oliver Stone’s Edward Snowden film, David O. Russell’s Joy with Jennifer Lawrence, the Point Break remake and Will Smith’s Concussion.
Before Daddy’s Home, Ferrell will be seen in a Lifetime movie. Wahlberg will be seen in Ted 2 on June 26 and can be spotted in the Entourage movie this week.
