The first trailer for Daddy’s Home, the first film to pair Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell since The Other Guys, was released today. Although it certainly has a Father’s Day theme, it isn’t coming out until Christmas Day.
Ferrell stars as radio executive Brad, who has just gotten married to Sarah (Linda Cardellini), a mother of two. Their real father, Dusty played by Wahlberg, comes home to visit and the two fathers compete for the affection of the children. Needless to say, Wahlberg is the cooler of the two.
“There are just so many families now that are not traditional families, that are blended families with stepparents and kids and trying to figure out that dynamic,” Ferrell told Yahoo Movies, who posted the trailer today. “So I think it’ll be fun for people to see us comment on that dynamic.”
The film was produced by Gary Sanchez Productions and Red Granite Pictures. Paramount announced earlier this month that the film will hit theaters on Christmas Day. It was directed by Horrible Bosses 2’s Sean Anders.
