Amanda Peterson, who starred alongside Patrick Dempsey in the 1987 romantic comedy Can’t Buy Me Love, has died. She was just 43.

The sad news was first reported by TMZ, who spoke with her father. He said that her family had not heard from her since July 3 and her body was found in her Greeley, Colorado home on July 5.

Her father said that there is no cause of death confirmed yet. “She had some illness and a sleep apnea problem that may have contributed,” he said.

Her father explained that she was suffering from a series of illnesses over the past couple of years, including pneumonia and sinusitis.

“She died on Friday morning. It's a big loss. Such a loveable person,” her mother, Sylvia, told CNN. “She had some medical problems with her heart but we don't know the cause yet."

Peterson’s IMDb profile lists appearances in Hollywood dating back to a 1982 episode of Father Murphy. She also appeared as a dancer in 1982’s Annie and 1985’s Explorers.

In 1987, she appeared to be on the road to superstardom after Can’t Buy Me Love with Dempsey. However, she only did a few movies and TV shows after that, including A Year In The Life. Her last credited appearance came in 1994’s Windrunner.
