Star Wars: Episode VIII will be released on May 26, 2017 and is being helmed by Rian Johnson (Looper), but not much else is known about the film. Now casting news might be surfacing including early reports indicating that Benicio Del Toro is being considered for a role in the upcoming space saga.

No official deal has been put in place but sources are indicating that Del Toro has been offered the role of the lead villain in Episode VIII. No further information has been released regarding which character Del Toro could be playing.

Variety reported that returning for Episode VIII could possibly be Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac, who will all be featured in the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Also, returning to work on Episode VIII will be Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy.

Production on Episode VIII is rumored to be starting in early 2016.

Fans won't have to wait two years for a new Star Wars film after Force Awakens this December. A Star Wars anthology film, Rouge One will be released in between Force Awakens and Episode VIII. Rouge One, which is being directed by Gareth Edwards, will be released on December 16, 2016.
