Obi-Wan Kenobi might not believe in luck, but Peter McCathie of Nova Scotia is here to probe him wrong. Not only is he a survivor of a lightning strike, but he also just won $1 million from the lottery.

When McCathie was 14, he was struck by lightning during a boat trip. And, weirdly enough, McCathie’s daughter was also struck by lightning a few years ago in Manitoba, notes CTV Atlantic.

The odds of getting stuck by lightning in Canada are under one in 1 million. As the Red Cross notes, that’s actually better than winning the lottery. The odds of winning the Atlantic Lotto 6/49 are one in 13.9 million.

But McCathie won the lottery with co-worker Diana Miller. And he even owns the story were they bought the ticket in Nova Scotia, so he will get another $10,000.

University of Moncton mathematics professor Sophie Leger told ABC News that she calculated that the odds of getting hit by lightning and winning the lottery and having a child who survived a lightning strike are one in 2.6 trillion.
