Singer Chris Brown was finally allowed to leave the Philippines earlier today. He was stuck in Manila because of a contract dispute.
As previously reported, Brown was held up over a New Year’s Eve concert he was supposed to perform at the Philippine Arena. The owners of the arena asked the Bureau of Immigration to prosecute Brown and his promoter for suddenly cancelling the New Year’s show. The “Loyal” singer was allegedly paid in full for the show and the only excuse he had for not going to Manila was that he misplaced his passport.
Brown headed to Manila to perform a show before a packed audience on Tuesday. Elaine Tan, spokeswoman of the Immigration Bureau, told The Associated Press that he finally received the certificate he needed to leave the country Friday. His private jet took off at 9:04 p.m. local time and went to Hong Kong, and heading to Macau, where he is performing at a club today.
As CNN notes, Brown did post a few tweets about the situation, although they have since been deleted. “This is a very serious situation and someone needs to be held accountable for mixing my name up in all this. I’ve done nothing wrong,” he wrote.
As Brown left, he posted a video on Twitter:
