DMX or Earl Simmons failed to fulfill a previous court order that he pay for child support resulting in him being sentenced for 6 months in prison.

Over the past couple of months, DMX has run into trouble with the law.

In April, DMX was accused of robbing a man at a New Jersey gas station, but the charges were dropped when the victim was unable to identify him on the surveillance videos, so DMX was released.

Then in June, New York Daily News reports that DMX was arrested outside Radio City Music Hall right when he was about to perform.

The rapper was taken into custody for several issues. One of them was due to his failure to pay back $400,000 of child support.

While in custody, DMX managed to pay the $25,000 bail and was released, but was recently arrested again because of bail jumping.

Now that the police had him on a solid charge, a judge could finally sentence him for prison time.

On Tuesday night, Billboard confirmed the official prison sentence for DMX would be six months due to the inability to pay for child support.

One musician in particular was upset about the news. Shaggy had wanted DMX to perform at Shaggfest 2015 in Virginia Beach, but his prison sentence won’t allow him to.

Shaggy shared the news on Twitter.
