In response to Meek Mill’s rant on Twitter, Drake released a new track addressing the rumors that he doesn’t write his own raps.
During the second episode of his OVO Sound Radio show on Beats 1 on Apple Music, Drake premiered “Charged Up,” produced by Maneesh, Frank Dukes and Noah “40” Shebib, according to Rap-Up.
The allegations started last week when Mill tweeted that Drake doesn’t write his own raps, specifically their collaboration “R.I.C.O.,” which was featured on Mill’s latest album, Dreams Worth More Than Money.
On “Charged Up,” Drake raps, “I’m honored that you think this is staged / I’m flattered, man / In fact I’m amazed.”
Drake then says that he’s not doing any more features for other artists’ albums. “Done doing favors for people / ‘Cause it ain’t like I need the money I make off a feature,” he raps.
Mill’s latest album shot to number one, as we reported, but that didn’t impress Drake, who rapped, “I see you n***as having trouble going gold / Turning into some so-and-so’s that no one knows.”
Mill responded to Drake shortly after “Charged Up” premiered, tweeting, “I can tell he wrote that 1 though……”
