A woman from George adopted a dying dog and decided to take him on a bucket list journey so he could enjoy his final days. Get the tissues ready for this amazing story.
WTVM reported Nicole Elliott from Columbus, Georgia learned from staff at Animal Ark rescue that the dog, named Chester, was found with matted hair and that when he was cleaned up, they had discovered “a very large tumor on his side, and had it removed,” Elliott reportedly said.
Animal Ark had rescued Chester from another high-kill shelter in April. Elliott discovered Chester when she saw a post on Facebook with his photo and a title that said, “‘hospice needed.’” Elliott thought about whether or not to foster him since she had just recently lost her grandmother and is a mother herself.
She made a Facebook page on June 28 called ‘Chester’s Final Journey.’
The first item on Chester’s bucket list was to go shopping for toys and afterwards, he enjoyed an oatmeal milk bath.
She also reportedly plans on throwing him a birthday party and taking him to dinner. Some of the items she has checked off included giving him a hot dog from Nathans and getting him food. Elliott said that he “still has a HUGE appetite!”
