Rooney Mara will have to wait a little bit longer to work with Pan co-star Hugh Jackman again. The Wolverine star has dropped out of Alfonso Gomez-Rejon’s Collateral Beauty and the producers are hoping they can get Johnny Depp as a replacement.

The news of Jackman’s departure was first reported by Deadline. The site notes that Jackman’s commitment to a third solo Wolverine movie has forced him out of the indie project.

PalmStar is still moving ahead with the project, which was first announced in May. The hope is to get Depp, but there’s no deal in place. Both Mara and How I Met Your Mother’s Jason Segel are still attached.

Michael Sugar and Brad Dorros of Anonymous Content and Loeb are producing. The executive producers are PalmStar’s Kevin Frakes and Likely Story’s Anthony Bergman and Steven Pearl.

The film, written by Allan Loeb, will be about a New York ad executive who is faced with a tragedy. He tries to get out of a state of depression and his colleagues are surprised by how it works.

Gomez-Rejon made his feature directing debut with Me & Earl & The Dying Girl, which is still playing in select theaters after a successful Sundance premiere.

Mara and Jackman will be seen together in Warner Bros.’ Pan on Oct. 9.
