For a movie about the inventor of the Miracle Mop, David O. Russell’s latest effort, Joy, looks really good. 20th Century Fox just released the first trailer for the film, which hits theaters on Christmas Day and features Russell’s acting troupe.
Jennifer Lawrence stars as Joy Mangano, another role for Russell that asks her to play much older. The Long Island businesswoman rose from a single mom to the inventor of HSN staples, including the Miracle Mop and Huggable Hangers.
Russell also cast Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper in supporting roles, bringing the gang from Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle back together.
The cast also includes Elisabeth Rohm (another Hustle alum), Isabella Rossellini, Virginia Madsen, Edgar Ramirez, Diane Ladd and Dascha Polanco. The story was written by Russell and Bridesmaids co-writer Annie Mumolo.
