Although it must have been difficult to make such a transition, Luke Bryan admits that taking in his late sister's children has been a blessing.
Bryan, 39, and his wife, Caroline, took in three teenagers to raise in their home. The children belonged to Bryan's sister. Unfortunately, Bryan's sister, Kelly, and his brother-in-law, Ben Lee Cheshire, passed away. Ben died from a heart attack while Kelly died suddenly in 2007.
The singer explained that he doesn't want it to "sound like you love having them so much that you're glad it's the situation".
Bryan and his wife have their own two kids. The family definitely expanded as they took in his late sister's children. "But we're honored to be doing what we feel was the right thing," he explained.
The "Rollercoaster" singer has a new fan app out now and an album coming in August.
He is often referred to as a "frat-boy singer," reports People Magazine. However, the country star is about to turn 40 and knows that frat party songs are just not his thing.
"At some point, me singing about frat party themes is just not going to be realistic," Bryan said. "I always say, if I ever get to 25 No. 1s, I'd try to do all 25. I wouldn't want one person not to hear their favorite."
"But if I look like a weird old dude up onstage, I'll be the first one to come to that realization," Bryan joked about his moves on stage that brought him the frat-boy label.
He also commented on the Confederate flag, which has often been disputed over in the media since the Charleston shooting.
"Where I grew up, I never understood the Confederate flag to be a negative thing," Bryan said. "But if the Ku Klux Klan is going to walk around and turn the Confederate flag into their deal, it's become a symbol of racism to a majority of people."
Born in Georgia, Bryan understands the argument but is staying optimistic.
"We live in a country where we have to listen to people's opinions and work it out," he commented.
