After 25 years in the music industry with 18 number one singles, Mariah Carey is finally going to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

According to The Los Angeles Times, the singer will receive the 2,556th star during a ceremony on August 5. Several of Carey's close friends and collaborators, including L.A. Reid and Lee Daniels, will speak at the ceremony.

"Finally, all questions regarding when Mariah Carey will be honored with a star are answered!" said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in a statement. "Fans have repeatedly asked us when their favorite singer would be honored and now is the time. We are thrilled that we can add one of the world's biggest talents to our Walk of Fame."

Martinez then took to Twitter to announce that Carey was actually selected in 2007 but was not able to schedule the ceremony until now.

Carey just finished the first leg of her #1 to Infinity residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. As we reported, the singer performed all 18 of her number one singles at every show.
