Warner Bros. has released another trailer for Black Mass, Scott Cooper’s new film about the notorious Boston mob boss Whitey Bulger. Johnny Depp stars as Bulger and this new trailer shows off a few more scenes that highlight his transformative performance.
The new trailer is framed by narration from Kevin Weeks, played by Jesse Plemons, who tells the story of Bulger to help out anyone who doesn’t already know how Bulger rose to power. FBI agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) is shown covering for Bulger, who is informing on other mobsters.
Black Mass’ all-star cast also includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Corey Stoll, Dakota Johnson, Kevin Bacon, Peter Sarsgaard, Adam Scott, Kevin Bacon and Juno Temple.
The film hits theaters on Sept. 18 and will be screened at both Toronto and Venice film festivals. Director Cooper has also helmed Crazy Heart with Jeff Bridges and Out of the Furnace with Christian Bale.
