A24 has released the first teaser trailer for Room, a terrifying film that appears to include another great performance from Brie Larson.

Room was acquired by A24 after the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, but it is just now getting ready for release. The film will be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Variety reports that the film has been scheduled for limited release on Oct. 16 and will go wide on Nov. 6.

Room was directed by Lenny Abrahamson, who also helmed Frank with Michael Fassbender. Element Films, No Trace Camping and Film4 produced.

It is based on Emma Donoghue’s novel about a 5-year-old boy, played by Jacob Tremblay, who is being held captive in a tiny room with his mother (Larson). Joan Allen and William H. Macy co-star.

The teaser is more about setting the tone of the dark, possibly terrifying film. There’s also hints of Larson’s performance, which could land her in awards discussions.

Larson can currently be seen in a supporting part in Trainwreck. Her other recent films include short Term 12, The Spectacular Now and The Gambler.
