While Warner Bros. begrudgingly posted the Comic-Con Suicide Squad footage, Fox has yet to officially release the Deadpool teaser that wowed everyone so much that it had to be played a second time. Star Ryan Reynolds explained that there’s a good reason for that.

On Sunday, Reynolds took to Twitter, where he wrote that there are still some visual effects shots that director Tim Miller and the crew want to finish before the trailer comes out. He teased that something will be out in three weeks, though.

During Saturday night’s Fox panel at Hall H, Deadpool’s teaser left the crowd stunned. Fox even re-played the trailer, which is filled with all the blood, violence, strong language and even sex that fans of the X-Men universe character have been hoping for in a movie.

While the footage was only meant for SDCC audiences, people still took out their smartphones to record it and posted it online. That’s what eventually lead Warner Bros. to release the Suicide Squad footage from its panel. Fox is going to let anticipation for an official trailer build for a few more weeks before releasing it.

Fox also showed footage from X-Men: Apocalypse, but that film is barely a month into shooting. Although that leaked online as well, it seems highly unlikely that this footage would be released.

Ironically, it was leaked footage that helped Deadpool get made in the first place. A year ago, someone leaked a test reel on the web and the excitement it caused convinced Fox to greenlight the movie. The movie hits theaters on Feb. 12.
