The upcoming Star Wars spinoff Rogue One sounds like it could be just as good as The Force Awakens, and now a great actor from Sherlock may be joining the cast.
Jonathan Aris, who plays Philip Anderson on Sherlock, has supposedly been cast as a senator in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. BBC News noticed the role added to Aris' Spotlight page, an official online resume for actors and their agents. On the page he was listed as playing a character named Senator Jebel, although this has since been taken down.
Aris was a lot of fun on Sherlock, playing a member of the forensics team who becomes obsessed with figuring out how Sherlock Holmes faked his own death. The actor also appeared in Merlin, The World's End and can now be seen on the new sci-fi show Humans.
If these reports are true, Aris would be joining a cast that includes Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, and Forest Whitaker, as we previously reported. This first Star Wars spinoff film follows a group of rebels and their mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, and rumors are that it will also feature Darth Vader himself in a supporting role.
Rogue One will be directed by Godzilla's Gareth Edwards, and it hits theaters on December 16, 2016.
