The next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film will be bringing back one of the classic characters from the franchise, but it looks like this time he'll be a bit different than we've ever seen him.
According to IGN, actor Stephen Amell said that Casey Jones will have a totally different backstory in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.
"It's certainly not your father's or your younger self's Casey Jones, but that's because we meet him at a very different time in his development," Amell said. "He is not the Casey Jones that a lot of comic fans have come to know and love."
Amell went on to describe Casey as a guy who lives in New York and loves hockey, but when things go south, he takes matters into his own hands.
Casey Jones originated in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics as a vigilante who wears a hockey mask. His origin story is that his father was murdered and his mother and sister held hostage when he was a young boy, and as a result of his fighting back, Casey took a lot of physical and psychological damage. However, according to Amell, that won't quite be the same origin used in the upcoming movie.
Casey Jones has appeared in most versions of the franchise including both animated shows and the live action films, where he was played by Elias Koteas. He also was in the 2007 animated film TMNT and was played by Chris Evans.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 will be directed by Dave Green. Most of the cast from the first film will be returning including Megan Fox, William Fichtner and Will Arnett. It will hit theaters on June 6, 2016.
